OptQC Appoints 前田倫宏 as Executive Officer and CFO, Strengthening Financial Structure for Commercialization of Photonic Quantum Computers
OptQC announced that 前田倫宏 will assume the role of executive officer and CFO effective August 1, 2026. In response to the start of operations of its domestically produced photonic quantum computer, MoQuren, the company will reinforce capital strategy, fundraising, and investor engagement necessary for commercialization and global expansion.
発表概要
Mr. Maeda has handled finance-related roles at USEN, Japan Eli Lilly, Nomura Holdings, Abbott Japan, Promessera Biosciences, and others. He has been involved in fundraising, investor relations (IR), M&A, and IPO preparations, and has led fundraising totaling over JPY 10 billion from domestic and international investors. Since June 2022 he served as CFO of PRISM BioLab, achieving a listing on the Tokyo Stock Exchange Growth Market in July 2024. At OptQC he will be responsible for formulating medium- to long-term financial strategy, exploring diverse fundraising options, and engaging with investors. In July 2026, OptQC installed MoQuren at the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology’s G-QuAT and commenced operations. Going forward, the company plans to use the actual machine to conduct validations and create use cases aimed at drug discovery and the financial sector.

技術・事業上の意味
This personnel move should be seen as OptQC strengthening its capital policy and fundraising capabilities as it shifts from an R&D-focused phase toward on-device validation and commercialization. Technically, it does not signal new performance improvements, but financially it aims to support the investments required for validations and use-case development using MoQuren. On the business side, Mr. Maeda’s experience in fundraising, IPO preparation, and investor relations will be applied to building the management foundation needed for growth investments and global expansion.
今後の注目点
Key points to watch are whether OptQC will disclose concrete fundraising methods, investment scale, and implementation timing. For validations using MoQuren, it will be important to see what use cases and results emerge in drug discovery and the financial sector. The timing of commercial offerings, the business model, and the identification of overseas expansion markets will also serve as measures of the effectiveness of the strengthened financial organization.
✍️ Quantum Index Analysis
The critical point of this announcement is not simply that OptQC has brought in someone with IPO experience, but that the company appears to be entering a stage where technology development alone is not sufficient to move forward. The start of MoQuren’s operations is a milestone, but there is a difference between “the machine runs” for research purposes, validation by external users, stable operation, and commercial provision. Moving from there to a revenue-generating business will require continuous funding to support validation, refinement, manufacturing, talent, and international expansion.
Mr. Maeda’s experience in fundraising, IR, M&A, and IPO preparations increases the options available to meet that funding demand. However, this announcement alone does not reveal the scale or timing of additional fundraising or the specific capital policy, including any IPO. Rather than viewing the CFO appointment as proof of growth, it should be interpreted as a proactive step to prepare the finance function in anticipation of upcoming large-scale investments.
