Announcement overview

Mauro will oversee product strategy and roadmaps spanning hardware, software, cloud and services. He will focus development on the highest‑priority customer needs and lead the construction and broader deployment of integrated products and services. Mauro joined Pasqal in January 2024 and has been involved in building the company’s Asia‑Pacific business centered on South Korea, as well as pursuing business opportunities in Japan, Taiwan and Singapore. Previously he spent about 20 years at Samsung managing investments and partnerships in data, artificial intelligence and quantum technologies, and he also has international business development experience at Cisco. Lumb will lead global talent strategy, organizational transformation, leadership development and corporate culture. She brings more than 15 years of executive experience across organizational design, talent strategy, post‑merger integration, spin‑offs, IPO readiness and business restructuring. Before joining Pasqal, she led HR strategy across Europe, the Middle East and Africa at NielsenIQ and Nielsen.

Key points

  • Roberto Mauro will serve as CPO, overseeing product strategy and roadmaps across hardware to services
  • Joëlle Lumb will serve as CHRO, leading talent strategy, organizational transformation, leadership development and corporate culture
  • Mauro has worked on Pasqal’s Asia‑Pacific business and previously handled technology investments, partnerships and international business development at Samsung and Cisco
  • The appointments are positioned as a strengthening of the management team to support commercial deployment of neutral‑atom quantum computing and international business expansion

Technical and business implications

These appointments are part of Pasqal’s effort to connect R&D outcomes to customer‑facing integrated products and scale the business. Centralizing product strategy under a CPO could enhance coordination across hardware, software, cloud and services. Establishing a CHRO role signals a push to build the talent, organizational structures and leadership needed for international expansion. However, the announcement does not specify the concrete effects these appointments will have on revenues, deployment numbers or the technical roadmap.

Key areas to watch

Watch for a concrete product roadmap that reflects customer needs and for how Pasqal presents integrated offerings that combine hardware through to services. To judge commercial progress, it will be important to see whether customer deployments and region‑specific business expansion translate into measurable results. On the organizational side, observe changes in talent allocation and operations to support international roll‑out, and whether these appointments accelerate product development and commercial execution.

✍️ Quantum Index Analysis

The significance of these hires should be viewed alongside Pasqal’s shift from pure device development toward parallel efforts in deployment, cloud, software and regional expansion. According to SEC filings, as of March 2026 Pasqal reported operating seven QPUs, with three more in production, over 25 commercial use cases, and commercial revenue of €16.5 million in 2025. In August the company completed its Nasdaq listing and held approximately $360 million in cash at closing.

Deployment approaches are also diversifying. In Saudi Arabia Pasqal has operated a quantum computer for Aramco and launched QCaaS using that facility in May 2026. In August it announced a commercial JV with Eleven Ventures planning multiple system deployments. In September it signed a three‑year MoU with LG CNS in Korea to combine AI data centers with quantum computing. These engagements go beyond one‑off research collaborations and increasingly pair devices, cloud, sales channels and regional presences.

For that reason, consolidating product strategy under a CPO has practical logic. Pasqal itself lists Mauro’s responsibilities as prioritizing customer needs and building integrated products and services. As the number of regional and customer‑specific projects grows, the business question becomes whether Pasqal will continue to handle them as bespoke efforts or package them into a standardized product suite that can be rolled out more broadly. From this announcement alone, however, it is not confirmed that the primary goal of the CPO hire is to productize individual projects.

The creation of a CHRO role should be read in the same context. SEC filings indicate Pasqal works with more than 40 customers and strategic partners worldwide and maintains manufacturing sites in France and Canada. As regions and delivery models multiply, an organizational backbone capable of operating manufacturing, technical support, sales and partner management across geographies becomes necessary.

That said, building organizational structure is not the same as achieving commercial success. What matters next is whether the growing number of deployments, PoCs and regional partnerships convert into standardized products and recurring revenue. The CPO and CHRO appointments are better seen as part of Pasqal reorganizing internally for the next business phase, rather than evidence of outcomes.
